| Naxos is the largest island of the Cyclades and a popular Greek tourist destination. This is the mythological island where Theseus abandoned Ariadne when he returned from Crete and she was then found by god Dionysus. Years passed and Naxos reached the top under the Venetian conquest, who ruled the island for two centuries and made it prosperous as a maritime and cultural centre.
